National Theatre Bookshop Haul

What’s in this crumbled bag, I hear you ask… Well, the other day I was wasting time on the Southbank before meeting some friends and I thought I’d pop into the new National Theatre Bookshop. What I didn’t know however is that they have some AMAZING stationery! So of course I couldn’t help myself and this is what I came out with:

La Crayon Aimant, £3, Tout Simplement

Really like the packaging on this one. It’s a pencil with a magnetic end! Having recently renovated a house, this could have really come in handy, like this, for example:

Next up:

Brass Double Sharpener, £5.50, Carta Pura

I’m VERY excited about this one. Such a classic, quality product. It’s almost too nice to use.  And from the same brand:

Black Rubber, £2, Carta Pura

This one doesn’t photograph so well, but everything’s cooler in matte black right? Even a rubber.

Brass Template Bookmark Alphabet, £13.50, Midori

I love Midori stuff, and have often looked at their brass rulers online but thought they were a little expensive. I hadn’t seen this bookmark/template before though (I suppose you could also use it as a ruler if you didn’t need measurements…) and I’m a lot more tempted to buy when it’s right in front of me!

Grafika cards, @.80 each, Nineteen 73

Grafika cards, @2.80 each, Nineteen 73

Really like the graphics on this range (they look a lot better in real life…). In fact they had a lot of great cards in the shop but I limited myself to 2 on this visit.

So yeah, I’ll definitely be going back, but maybe after my next payday…

New Brand Find: MUCU

My boyfriend bought me a really nice little notepad for Christmas – he knows stationery is the way to my heart! (He also bought me Charlotte Olympia Kitty Flats which was a TOTAL dream come true and I have wanted for years, but that’s a different story!!!).

As you can see it’s a reporter style flip notepad, secured with a fabric elastic band. When you open up, it’s a ring-bound, grid pad.

New Year, New Blog!

Ok, well here I go. 2014 starts with a new blog about one of my interests… Stationery!

The best place to start in January is with diaries.

Now, I’ve been completely unorganised (precisely why I need a diary, I suppose), and left it until the last few days in December to order one. It’s winging it’s way here from Japan at the moment (or at least it will be when they’re back form their holidays on 7th Jan) so I really hope it’s worth it.

It’s called the Hobonichi Planner and you can read all about its features here. There are so many things I like about it, in particular the criss-cross lined pages (an obsession of mine, but that’s for another post), as well as the lay-flat binding – don’t know if you’ve every been trying to follow instructions from notes you’ve made without a spare hand and your note book keeps closing itself… I also hope it’ll encourage me to keep more of a journal. There are numerous covers you can buy to go on your planner, but I didn’t order one as I like things quite traditional and think I’ll prefer without – plus it’ll fit better in my bag.

I think I’m pretty late on this one… I only found out about it through my boyfriend who saw it on a design blog. I get the impression it’s a bit of a Japanese institution. I just found this tumblr, with examples of people’s filled out planners – they look amazing! I hope I can do mine justice.

Anyway, I really really hope it doesn’t take too long to arrive – I’ll do a review once it does.

Until then, this is the sad state of my current diary – a post-it stuck in the back on my 2013 one:

sad diary

It’s not even in date order! I might even have to start using google calendar… 😦
